  1. The vast majority of cases will not have a screening process.  You will be randomly selected from the number of prospective jurors that turned up; that group comes from those who have a drivers license or are registered to vote (or both).

In more serious cases, or in the very rare occasion that a person is called for a high profile case, there will be interviews/checks into a person's background to ensure that she or he doesn't already have a strong opinion about the person or the crime itself.

Finally, jurors are asked if they feel able to stand in judgment of another, and in cases where the death penalty is a possibility they will be asked whether or not they could hand it down as a punishment.

    Hope that helps!

  2. There is a screening process, the lawyers are trying to pick the best people for their side of the case.

  3. Yeah there is a screening process.

You never know what they are looking for exactly. Sometimes they want more men/women or blacks/whites

If you are trying to get out of it dont let them know. They will s***w with you

My sister answered their questions sarcastically and smartassed(trying to get out of it). They kept her for a week then dismissed her.

  4. They are looking for people who are sympathetic to their client.  They ask pertinent questions to see how much of the law you know and if you are willing to be fair regardless of how you feel personally.

  5. Both lawyers want jurors who are likely to return a favorable verdict. Here's how the jury selection process typically works in Alabama.

1.) The prospective jurors fill out written questionnaires. They may also (verbally) state their  positions on certain issues.

2.) The attorneys from both sides call out a series of numbers.

2.) The judge announces who has been excluded from serving on the jury.

  6. the voir dire gives the lawyers a chance to ask if you could be impartial with the case.........be truth-full........I was on a jury pool for a bank robbery. the defense asked if I could be impartial when the defense stated there would be no witnesses for the defense, I told them that sounded stupid and did not fit into a zealous representation of defending ,,,,,,,,,bye see ya later...

  7. They screen the jurors for for prejudice and preconceptions.  Also for empathy (both sides).

  8. they just  randomly sulect people from voters reggetration  drivers licences etc.
