  1. Whatever you have you take for granted, something else often seems better enev when it's not

    Grass is grass is grass. It's all the same. So the saying  makes the point that when you think you could do better by switching, often you're just changink like for like and are not really gaining anything


  2. The other part, counterpart, sees things, happenings more colourful, more optimistic, better, than you do.

  3. The whole saying says, "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence".

    Meaning that one is never satisfied with what one has, their neighbor's is better, so one strives to match or better the neighbor's.

    A similar idiom would be, "Keeping up with the Joneses".
