  2. So you have an idea that boulangeries sell bakery products.  That is pretty much it.

    This is why.  Before supermarkets, people went to specific shops for certain things.  You'd go to the boucherie for meat products, the boulangerie for bakery products and the marche for your fruits and vegetables.  There are about 15 different types of shops that sell certain products.  Very often they overlap.

    In contrast to the US, a sizable amount of  French consumers prefer to shop in these individualized stores for some or all of their shopping needs.  Don't get me wrong - their are plenty of supermarkets in France and some french prefer just to go the supermarket.

    The french are more concerned with quality, not quantity.  They like taking the time to shop around for their needs and enjoy going to certain places for certain things.  They live to eat, not eat to live.

  3. All sort of hand made cakes, pie, éclair au chocolat, religieuse, French patisserie is one of the best!!!
