  1. well cause its about the same stuff - yes acrylic! it is much denser and has much smaller particles than what your nails are made of, but there you have it . : )

  2. Acrylic fillings use the same chemical as acrylic nails but it is filled to make it harder.   Once hardened it will last a long time and not be a problem.

Acrylic is also used in bone cements / interocular lens surgery...

  3. They use a composite or tooth colored filling. The odor you are probably smelling is probably the etch (roughens the surface so the composite sticks better) or the sealant (protects the exposed part of the tooth that the doctor cleaned away). It is temporary.

  4. I think they use some sort of cement............I had mine filled a month ago, and braces taken off two weeks ago.

  5. Hello, depending on how deep the filing was, if the decay was very close to the middle layer of the tooth, the "Dentin", which is the shock blocker against heat and cold to protect the tooth's nerve from as much shock trauma as possible....Just before the filing is placed in the tooth a layer of artificial insulation is painted on the inside of the cavity to be filled and then the filing material is placed over that...that insulation may have given off some odor. Silver alloy filings do not give off odors but some plastic composite ones do. In an event I see nothing unusual about your dental experience....Good luck and I wish you well.
