  1. Every AIT is different depending on which MOS he has. Every AIT that I've ever known about wears ACU's everyday still because they are still training. But a lot of times, You do get a weekend pass and you get to go off post in civilian clothes. But 9 times out of 10 he has either gained or lost weight & his clothes wont fit the same anymore. On every military post there are places to shop on and off post. If I was you I would wait to take clothes and just let him buy some there on family day. Thats what I did because I gained almost 15 lbs during basic training and I knew my clothes woundn't fit anymore.

  2. Are you talking about graduation from Basic and he's going to AIT?  It depends on what AIT he's going to.  At mine we could wear civilian clothes on the weekends, but that was only after 6 weeks or so.

  3. There is more free time available in AIT and whenever he is off duty he will be permitted to wear civilian clothing.  I recommend, however, you wait and re-size him for his clothing.  It is possible he might be a lot trimmer than the last time you saw him.  At best all he is really going to need is a pair of jeans, slacks and a couple of sports shirts....

  4. They wear whatever the designated "clothing attire" is for that day. ACU's (used to be known as BDU's), or PT clothing, or class A's. Civi's are allowed only for leave, etc.
