What do things cost in Pune, India?

Question

What would be a reasonable price for jewelry, wall hangings, and other souvenior items?

Also, what kind of gifts would the Indian hosts appreciate?

Pune is a nice city.  Things are quite cheap and if you visit any shop with someone from Pune then it will be better otherwise they may tell you some exhorbitant price.  Shops from Tulsibag area are good for souvenier collection. You also may visit cmp area for this. If you are interested in real jewellary then you may visit M/S. P N Gadgil Shops or Vaman Hari Pethe. These two shops are famous in Pune and any rickshwalla can take you there.  For cosmetic jewellary again you can go to Tulsibag area which is the most famous shopping bazar for all sorts of things like kitchen ware, cosmetics, jewellary, Metal idols and some antique things.

For your host in Pune you may get anything handbag, bedsheet, jewellary ( depending on her age), ganesh idol etc etc .

You can visit many places in and around Pune.  Sinhgad is fort historic place,  Parvati Hill, Osho Ashram, koregaon Park,  nearby places, P L Dehpande Garden, Raja Kelkar Museum etc etc

Pune is a very delveloped city in India ...........almost evrything is veryvery cheap and good .........there is no dearth of anything there................being close to mumbai..........Your hosts might apprecate music cds or fashions.........like i w!ould!

General gift items souvenirs can cost anywhere from 100 - 200 Rupees onwards.

Hosts in Pune ( if they are Maharashtrians ) will appreciate a beautiful Ganesha idol :)

jewelry, music/movie cds, home decor items must suit the host's tastes! cos they'll end up in storage otherwise :) so i would probably avoid those!

though in case of jewelry simple pearl necklace/earings would be a better option. About decor item go for decorative clock, vase etc :)
