I have to write an essay identifying an eleceted public official in the U.S. who is acting courageously to adressa political issue on a national or international level. Any ideas??????? i was thinkin Al Gore and Global warming.. Not sure

Al Gore would be a good one, except is he elected at the moment? Type in Nobel Peace Prize recipients, look at the top five most recent winners, find one who's a politician :)
