  1. Garlic for sure and some sort of seasoning like oregano or thyme or basil. You can add hot spices too like red pepper flakes.

One thing I often add to bought spaghetti sauce is cheddar cheese.  Just melt it in and it gives it great body and really picks up the taste.

You could add some red wine also.

Sorry I just noticed you already said you have seasonings - one that adds a really good taste is nutmeg.  Try it, no one will know what you put in but they will like it.

Also don't be afraid to do a very simple sauce so you fully appreciate what you have in there.  An italian lady told me that - what the heck are you putting all that stuff in there for so now I keep it real simple.

    Mine

    Large can of tomatoes chopped

7 oz tin of tomato sauce

    fresh garlic

    1/4 tsp thyme

    ground black pepper

  2. oregano and garlic

  3. I add: Parsley, Garlic powder, some tomato paste, oregano, thyme, mint.

  4. Crushed tomatoes, sundried tomatoes, tomato paste, shredded carrots (for sweetness), and wine.

For spices: bay leaf, oregano, thyme, basil.

    Oh, and lots of garlic.

  5. We're just making one here, too.   Red wine, perhaps a splodge of cream, a chili - delicious.   I'm hungry!

  6. The only thing I would add that you haven't mentioned is tomato paste or puree, maybe some garlic.

  7. I always add just a touch of brown sugar to cut down the acidity of the tomatoes ...and maybe garlic and parmesan cheese ?

  8. cheese
