The walls are called partitions, but where I work, it is more like rats in a maze.

...but, I think that would be fairly tacky in an apartment. They are barely acceptable in a work environment. Instead, try using one of these options:

1. folding screens

2. hanging curtains...you can drop a rod from chains hooked into the ceiling

3. make your own walls...you can do this just as you would the curtains, but you use 2X4 pieces of wood to make a frame with an opaque fabric in the center. Or you coud use thin sheets of wood and paint them.
