  1. Chopping wood and plowing the fields.

    Only kidding.

    No state test here.

We have a very active 15 year old who creates his own program.  We need to guide him in academics but he is self motivated in physical activity.

  2. My P.E. is moving my hand from the chips bag to my mouth. And sometimes to push the buttons on the remote, or flip the pages of the book I'm reading....

    Haha....

No, I don't take any tests or anything for P.E.

But I do go to the gym 3 times a week....

    =)

  3. Snowboarding, skiing, rollerskating, iceskating, baseball, football, basketball, volleyball, Team Ultimate (frisbee), wrestling, hiking, jogging, running, walking, weight-lifting, eliptical machine training, push-ups, chin-ups, swimming, canoeing, rowing, surfing, diving, horseback riding, trampoline, country dancing, ballet, etc....

No we don't do state tests.

  4. Go to a GYM. Or run around your block 4 times (a mile), do some jumping jacks. Go jump over walls if you want, do sit ups, pull ups, & push ups if your able. you have to move, for PE (physical education).

  5. Each state is different. We live in MA and we do not have to take the state tests. My daughter takes the Stanford test each year, but this is not mandatory - we do it as our chosen way of reporting her progress. (I like it because it gives us an idea of her strengths and weaknesses, so we know what area to concentrate on more the next year.)

As for P.E. my daughter plays in the town league for both basketball and soccer, and in the summer she takes swimming lessons at the local pool. We also take many walks, ride bikes, swim, and go to the local roller rink 2x a month. Just getting your children outside to play is great exercise! Make sure you remember to teach them the health aspect, however. We use a health book to do so, but don't test on that subject.

    Hope this helps!

  6. I do a local class at my Ymca Specifically for homeschoolers!

  7. My children are still very young...4 and 6.  They're in PreK and 1st grade right now.  We do not take state tests as it is not required in TX.

For P.E. we do all sorts of things.  My 6 y.o. plays soccer in the fall.  In the winter we run, jump, go to the park; pretty much, we PLAY.

When it gets warm enough, we'll be going swimming.  When he's old enough for Little Dribblers, he'll play basketball.  He has NO interest in baseball so guess we won't bother there.

The nice thing about homeschool P.E. is you can try lots of things.

  8. You'll have to check your state's laws on requirements for physical education.

We use Tae Kwan Do, horseback riding, and park day for PE.

  9. bike ride

  10. my mom takes me running and swimming at the local pool

i play basket ball with my cousins in my back yard and jump rope.  pe is really any thing you can think of that gets them moving. we don't take tests

  11. Our state doesn't require tests.

I also don't believe in PE. Physical education is only required by public schools to provide balance to children who are required to stay in their seats for a large majority of the school day (and then spend their evenings doing homework) A typical child, who is not in public school, will spend more time being physically active. Add into that all the typical sports and activities that kids normally do, they are physical enough and learn about their bodies in a natural fashion.

For example, as homeschoolers they usually play outside for two hours after lunch, and then have tae kwon do, baseball, basketball and soccer in the evenings. With scouts we do hiking and orienteering, while camping at least one weekend a month.

Because we don't encapsulate 'physical education' into a classroom, the activity the kids get is part of life, and more likely to be generalized into their adult lives rather than quitting when they graduate.

  12. u swim

  13. I Don't. I wrestle, Box, and do martial arts. That's workout enough.

  14. Being active does not require a class, you just do it. My daughter takes martial arts, she bikes, plays on the trampoline, hikes, walks with her dogs, does morning yoga, etc. In the past she's taken swim, dance and gymnastics classes for fun. When you are not stuck at a desk all day, you get to soak up fresh air and sunshine whenever you like.

  15. Ride horses, bicycle, skateboard, walk, play tag, etc.  What do we need accurate times for??

  16. We go outside, ride bikes, skateboard, ski, snowboard, swim, fencing lessons, golf lessons

  17. i have to do a bleep test that tells ur fitness

if ur home schooled then me persnaly i would go up the gym and run and bike

hope ive answerd ur question well !

  18. Party because you are lucky (unless you dislike homeschool).

  19. My daughter and I go to Curves together.  In addition we go for walks, swim, or just play outside.

  20. Just exercise you don't have to take the state tests

  21. Where I live, in Florida, it isn't required, but I still took Health class and s*x ed. and I still make sure I get structured and unstructured physical activity. I take fencing lessons, and for a while I was fencing for up to 9 hours per week. It's only less now due to frequent traveling (college visit, trips with friends, etc) and an overcrouded schedule. I also played soccer for a while, I swim when ever the weather is warm enough, and I run whenever the urge strikes me. Another big physical bonus is that I'm blind, and therefore I take a weekly Orientation and Mobility class for cane technique and what basically ammounts to pedestrian training. I am and perhaps always will be (or at least will be for quite some time) a pedestrian...furthermore I am a pedestrian that WANTS to be out and about in the community, and that ammounts to a great deal of walking or running. When I'm with my boyfriend I play on a trampoline quite a bit, and he has taught me some Judo moves, so we have fun wrestling and testing strength now and then. We also ride bikes together (We're both blind and in an effort to keep this short, I wont explain how that works). I occasionaly roller blade, work out for fun and fittness, practice healthy cooking and eating habits (most of the time at least) and take any opportunity to try a new sport. I'd say I get just as much, if not more physical activity than I would have had in school where they wouldn't even let me take gym, deciding for me that it wouldn't be "safe" or "easy". pfft.

  22. Bike riding

    Trampoline

    Walking

    Basketball

    Ballet lessons

    Horseback riding/lessons

    Gymnastics

    Calisthenics

    Homeschool group PE

    4-H events

    Scouting

Organized sports (hs group, parks and rec, ps or community)

    Swim lessons

the list is endless! Anything that involves movement counts... you can also do the Presidential Fitness Program on your own if you want an organized program.

  23. I live in Texas and was homeschooled. Here, we don't have to take standardized P.E. tests. This wasn't really a problem, though, because my parents were very good at making sure that we got plenty of exercise.

Collectively, one or more of us ("us" being my sibs and I) played soccer, softball and baseball. We also rode BMX, skated, et cetera.

So, even though we didn't have to take any P.E. tests, we probably would have passed the tests because we got plenty of exercise, in various ways.

  24. My ds hikes mostly - he is training to walk the entire Appalachian Trail.

For homeschoolers there are as many PE options as there are exercise options in the whole wide world.

Swimming, walking, jogging, running, playing ball, extreme frisbee, join a gym, take advantage of a local YMCA, swim, join sports leagues, on and on and on and on and on...

  25. No we don't take state testing for PE.  But some sport groups I've seen available in my area are baseball, soccer, basketball, and volleyball.
