  1. My Garden is like a pet cemetry.  I've had many animals over the years and most have been buried in my garden. My last two dogs though were cremated and I have their ashes on my mantle piece. When it's my turn to go, I want to be cremated and them all our ashes mixed together and we'll all be scattered together.

  2. I bawled my eyes out brought him home in a little casket and buried him.

  3. I take my pet home and bury it in the garden :)

  4. i go home and grieve!

  5. personally id bring my pet home and burry them in bak garden thers no way id want them anywer else and even tho ther gone il know that if ther out the bak theyd be smilin down from doggy heaven and be very happy:)

  6. i have my pets put to sleep at the vet and then they give you a choice you want them to do something with him or you can get him cremated. that is what i have done with my cat and my dog.

  7. Vets will let you take the body if you want to bury it yourself. They will also usually help you make other arrangements, i.e. cremation or burial at a pet cemetery. If you don't make other plans, the vet will most likely dispose of the body, which results in burial or cremation with other pets.

  8. Four of my bunnies were put to sleep at the vets and each time i left my pets to be cremated and i didnt ask for the ashes. The body is just a vessel for your pet and once it had died what was your pet isn't there. I did have one bunny die in my arms at home and we decided to bury her under our apple tree. I maybe would have buried my others in the garden but there just isnt the room. I think memories are more important when it comes to remembering your pets.

  9. I had to do this the day I went on holiday.

My hamster was put to sleep and I left him there to be cremated.

I'm not too keen on having the local cats digging it up in my garden.

My kids would be so traumatised!

  10. Ummm...if it's at the vet's office I believe they usually keep the body.

  11. we are renting a home so i could not take my ginger home with me but i stayed with her until she was gone. the vets cremate the dogs and i was okay with that. it was most important to me to be there with her until she was gone .it was the hardest thing i have ever done but i could not leave her there alone and scared. she was always my protector and would have died fighting for me so i did what i could to save her and once it was evident she would suffer horribly and die in a matter of hours i let her go the most loving peaceful way i could. i held her in my arms until she was gone. it was only one shot and she just went to sleep. i stayed with her until they took her away.

  12. When I had to have my dog put to sleep last year I had her buried at a pet cemetery , but I planted a rose bush in the garden in memory of her and so my 3 children can remember her as well.

  13. I always have my pets put down at home - I never take them into the vet. Most of them are buried in the back garden, I had one individually cremated as I lived in a flat at the time.

I have large animals too, which will not be allowed to be buried. They will go to the local pet cemetery where burial is allowed I expect.

I think you should not avoid the issue, especially if it is not that easy to dispose of the remains after death. That way, you are not caught in a terrible position at a time when you are really upset and don't want to think about it.

  14. When our dog was put to sleep we had a choice.

We chose to have him cremated and then were given the remains a few weeks later to arrange our own burial.

I suppose it depends what services are offered by your vet.

  15. When you take your pet to the vets you are best to pay before they put your pet to sleep, it's easier. Then you can either stay with your pet or just leave the vet to do his job. Then you have the option to either leave the pet or ask to take him/her home to bury him/her or ask for cremation and the ashes will be there for you to collect.....All the best

  16. we always bring our pets home, usually our dogs get cremated and we bring the ashes home, but small animals we bring them home and bury them under the willow tree, it is so peaceful there so is a perfect spot to remember the good times shared, we think of our pets as more than just animals no matter how small they come home with us, then we grieve in our own way but no pet is forgotten

  17. Please don't leave your animal at the vets when they are put to sleep.  I used to work in a vets in the quarantine unit and i have seen dogs left by the freezer in spilling out of black bin liner bags and the chest freezer was left to get full before the animals were taken away for group cremation. When the end comes, I always bring my boys and girls home to be wrapped in a blanket and laid to rest in the bottom of the garden in their home.  If you don't have the ground or they are too big to bury them at home then individual cremation is probably the best possible alternative and its quite nice to scatter their ashes somewhere that they were happy like a favourite park or bit of woodland.
