  1. heat from steam will then be used to generate electricity by forcing and turning a magnet through an electromagnetic coil. we then use this electricity for jobs, such as answering questions on this friggin website.

When you supply energy (heat) to water what happens is that water will change phase,passing from liquid to vapor.Vapor contains more energy than water,and it can reach the steam turbine.Then the turbine makes an axis to rotate,and this axis is attached to a motor (electric).The rotation of axis is needed to let the magnetic field to change in space and time,so that coils are "invested" by this magnetic flux and you will get on it an electromotive force.If you close the electric circuit you will have a current circulating in it.Bye.
