What do u have to do if someone wants you to take over payments to get the car in your name?

my grandma wants me to take over payments on her car but i need my name to be added to it and we dont know how to go about doing it and i cant be added to the title how do i get it in my name ?

  1. You would have to get your own loan and "buy" the car from your grandmother. The bank owns the car right now, not your grandma, so she can't just "add" you to the loan.

    If you just took over payments, it still remains in her name. She then takes on the risk of you defaulting, which still harms her credit.  


  2. CAll the loan company and ask them if they can help since you are taking over the payments for a family member they might be able to help you


  3. The only way to put the title in your name is to buy the car and pay off the loan

  4. if you can't get your name on the loan, you can't get your name on the title. if you can afford to make the payments, just give grandma the money and have her continue to make the payments to the finance company. you can however be added to the registration, you and grandma can do that at DMV especially if you are going to be the primary driver of the car. and don't forget to either get your own separate insurance, or have grandma add you to her policy as a driver.

    once the car is paid off, you can get the car in your name
