  1. You can make one using wood and wire mesh.  There are several different types of mesh or fencing material at the hardware store.  For the sides I would use a hard ware mesh that has larger holes.  The rabbit should not be able to fit its intire head throgh any part of the enclosure.  For the bottom use a hardware cloth with holes that are just big enough for the poo to fall through.  Build the frame out of 1' x 2' wood then cut the wire to the fit each side.  Fasten to the frame with staples or other fastener.  I use a combination of staples place at regular intervals and metal wire that I wind around the wood corners and hardware cloth.  Your will also need build a shelf to hold a pan under the cage to catch the poo.  I have seen people use bread pans or Rubbermaid containers.  The pan or pans that you use may dictate the size of cage you build.  I would fill the pan with cat titter or other bedding to manage the oder.  You will have to be creative in making the door.  Make the door opening as large as posable.  Framing it with wood will help cover sharp edges and give it stability.  You may have to cut other holes to instal a feeder.  If you plan on keeping the rabbit outside you will need to install a roof to keep the bunny dry.  Check there is inexpensive plastic or metal roofing used to cover porches and patios.  You may also want to build the frame out of thicker wood so that dogs or other animals can not get to the bunny.

  2. Don't use wood.  The materials needed for a rabbit cage are 1/2x1" welded wire mesh for the floor,  1x2 welded wire for the sides,  top and door and J-clips to hold everything together.  Go the the library or bookstore and get the book Storey's Guide to Raising Rabbits.  It has step by step instructions.
