  1. With your GCSE, you're qualified to apply to many of the universities in the US, once you take the SAT exam. You can take the SAT in the UK, or you can wait until you reach the US.

You register for the exam at www.collegeboard.com. Try to get some SAT test prep materials - at your local bookstore, or order them from Amazon, or collegeboard.com. Look over the format of the test, to get familiar with it. Take a sample test, and see how you do. If your test scores aren't high enough for the universities you want to apply to, take a test prep class via Kaplan, Princeton Review, or etc.

If you plan to go to university in the UK, you can study for and take either the US AP exams in your A level subjects, or the SAT II (subject tests) in those subjects. Those exams are considered the equivalent to A levels by most British universities.

In addition, although A levels, SAT subject tests and/or AP exams aren't required by most US universities, taking such exams will benefit you in your US university admissions as well. If you do well enough on those exams, it looks very good on university applications, and the university may even waive you out of certain classes based on those results. And by taking the AP exams or SAT subjects tests, all your hard work toward A levels will  not be in vain.

Get the AP or the SAT subject test prep books from a local bookstore once you reach the US, and see what the exams require. Take a practice exam from the book, and see how well you do. Then, if you need to, study some more, and register to take the exams.
