  1. he doesnt look 14.2 but how should we know. it'd be easier to tell if we saw him with a person.

but if he's been properly measured.. then you should know.

14.2 and under is considered a pony.

  2. 14.3 is a pony

    anything above is a horse

  3. Even if he is only a little bit taller than 14.2 he is definitely a horse, too be sure get him professionally measured.

  4. He's a "hony."

Just kidding (there's another combination of "horse" and "pony" that could get one in trouble :) )

    Anyways...

    He's a horse. A short one at that, but he's a horse.

  5. i have always heard that anything 13.3 hds and under in a pony

and 14 and above is a horse, until i got on this website, now a pony is 14.2hds and smaller??

i have also owned horses that are reg. as a QH who were only 14hds and they were called a horse by vets and the registration

im confused too lol so idk i would say that you have a beautiful horse

  6. I would have the vet or someone measure the horse so that you really know if it is a horse or a pony. i really don't think that it is a pony though.

  7. If he has been measured, and he is above 14.2 hands, then he is a horse. It does not matter how he is built.

  8. that is def. a horse.

    no pony is that big

  9. You should re-measure him because if he is under 14.2 he's a pony and if hes over 14.2 he's a horse so you should get someone to measure him again to get the right measurement.

  10. He is not a pony. Foundation quarter horses are generally shorter and stockier than the average QH. And a correction to some of the others.  under 14.2hh is considered pony sized, everything above that is a horse. If your horse is a registered Foundation QH...then he is a horse, FQHA will not accept ponies.

  11. Once a horse hits 14.3, it's a horse. Anything under, even if it's 14.2 and 7/8, it's still a pony. So your QH is actually a Quarter Pony. He's beautiful, by the way! In case your interested, here's the AQPA (American Quarter Pony Association) website: http://www.aqpa.com/ .

  12. He is a horse and that is all their is too it.

  13. The only way to tell if he is a horse or a pony is to have him properly measured. If he is smaller than 14.2, he is a pony (it can even be just a fraction of an inch under 14.2)  Anything 14.2 or bigger and he is a horse.

ADD: If he's been measured and he is over 14.2, then he is a HORSE. If people say their 14.2-14.3 is a pony, maybe they're just using the term loosely. I sometimes call my 15.2 gelding a pony, just cuz he's my little baby horse and pony is a "baby" term, ya know what I mean?
