  1. I think he will hold a title again.

We no pavlik beat him twick but he beat bernard hopkins twice and i think should of got the desion over winky wright.

Top quality fighter will hold the belt again within the next 3 years.

  2. Not in this division..there are just too many fighters (the Kelly Pavliks of the world) that will clean his clock. He hasn't been conditioned as of late and the contrversy with his trainers will keep him from the top

  3. I think Taylor could be the 168 pound champion right now.

  4. I think he needs to gain or lose some weight and go in a differn't division. He is good enough but there are better in his weight class. If he stays where he is at, no, if he changes yes. I hope his does I have to go for my fellow razorback fans

  5. I think he is going to have to swallow his pride and go up the middleweight division and work his way to dis throne  Lucian Bute.  Taylor is a great puncher is just that he couldn't decypher Pavlik's style, it has happen to the best boxers.  I think he really has a chance to win another title division and who knows? maybe he can gain more power and confidence in another weight category.

  6. Jermain Taylor seems to be a likable person, but I get the impression that he lacks the true heart of a champion.  I'll explain my reasoning.

While he looks like a physical specimen, he has been out of shape -- at least compared to his opponents -- in several fights, most recently in his fights versus Pavlik.  Either he is genetically incapable of achieving a world-class level of physical fitness, which seems hard to believe based on his looks, or he takes shortcuts in the gym and fails to prepare himself to fight at a championship level.  It is very, very hard to get into true fighting shape; if your heart isn't in it during those lonely moments in the gym, you run the risk of failing during the fight.  It appears that Jermain Taylor's physical preparations for some of his fights is lacking.  This indicates a lack of heart.

Additionally, we all saw how he was unable to control his emotions after the last Pavlik fight.  He fled the ring, declining to give an immediate post-fight interview, and practically ran to the locker room.  This is not the behavior of a true champion.  When the going gets tough, the tough get going, they don't run and hide.

Furthermore, his skill set is lacking.  There are major holes in his abilities, most of which are well known by now to his peers.  These deficiencies are exploitable, leading me to believe that any talented opponent who is able to handle himself against Taylor's (not inconsiderable) jab and counterpunching ability will have a good chance of biding his time until Taylor starts to slow, then stepping up the assault until Taylor cracks under the pressure.

Having said all that, it was impressive to see how Taylor was able to alter his game for the second Pavlik fight.  This shows that you can teach an old dog new tricks.  Often, it takes adversity to bring out the best in a man; let's hope that Taylor puts his nose to the grindstone and resolves to reinvent himself -- boxing will be all the better for it if he does!  If he is able to overcome what seems to be a mental block that limits the effectiveness of his training, there is no reason why he can't regain his championship.

  7. He'll hold some sort of belt because there are so many of them.  He should have fought Jeff Lacey when Lacey was worth watching.  Jeff will never be the same after the total beating he took from Joe Calzaghe.  His attitude going into the fight is what cost him.  He was another who thought Non US white boys cant fight.  Its a tough way to learn a lesson.

I have told friends for a long time that Taylor would eventually be exposed.  He has a very bad habit of dropping his right when he throws a jab.  It's as if the two hands are connected.  I don't think its cockyness.  I think its just a bad habit that became progressively worse as time passed.  He's a big, strong middleweight who will not be able to make weight much longer.

He can forget 160 as long as Pavlik is there unless one of the "Alpha-boys"  gets a hair across his butt and takes his belt from Pavlik.  In this case any belt Jermain wins is worthless unless he takes it from Pavlik or someone who beats Pavlik.   Not likely to happen anytime soon.

  8. He definatly is capable of winning another belt - he was very close in his last fight against Pavlik, and the first one was a shootout too.

I feel Pavlik and Taylor are both two of the best in the world - Taylor could win at 168 right now I believe.  He's certainly not unbeatable, but he is athletic, experienced and a hardworker.

And for the guy who claimed Taylor didn't act like a champion after the second fight with Pavlik, just go check out the footage of the press conference after, when he refused to complain about the close decision, and was more than respectful and gracious in defeat.  He is one of the good guys in boxing, period.

  9. Defiantly yes. s***w all that talk about him needing to change weight classes and polish up this and that. Jermaine needs to be himself and get back that drive he once had. Like when he fought Hopkins the first two times, if Jermaine can get that back he will as dominant as he was at that point. I don't know what threw him off but anyone who watched them fights could tell that his heart was not in it.

  10. Jermain Taylor first of all is a limited fighter he does not do any one thing great and he has a lot of flaws. The first thing he did wrong was let Emanuel Stewart train him Stewart thinks that every fighter he trains is Thomas Hearns. Taylor is so screwed up now it will take two or three years to get his game back and his confidence. Taylor is in a bad possion he can,t go down in weight  and he can,t go up in weight so I don,t think he will ever be a world champion again sorry.
