  1. It is a custom. People in India worship cows and would never eat one.

We, in America, have been raised having dogs (and cats) as companion animals. We have tons of land here, and not as many people per sq. foot as many other countries. We have the space to raise cattle for food. Other countries, do not have the space to raise cattle.

I do not think that we should judge people for what they eat. For some, it is a delicacy, for others, they may not be able to find or afford anything else to eat.

  2. I hate that dogs are killed to be eatin, what happen to the words "Man's Best Friend", it makes me want to kick somebodies a**

  3. If ur hungry enough, u'll eat whateva is on the plate.  sorry 2 hear about "T-Bone"I, guess he wuz just in the wrong place at the wrong time. h**l the "Donner Party" ate their own kind.  not the kinda party i wanna attend..

  4. I used to have a huge problem with it, but then I realized, well, we eat pigs.  And they can be pets, too (to people who know what they are doing).  I'm okay with it, as long as they are killed humanely.

ADD: I'm against doing it myself, I see dogs and cats as pets, not food.

  5. I know what you mean.

When i was a little girl my family and I went on a vacation to the Philippines.

And at the time i had a little Jack Russell named T-bone,

he was my favorite little dog we use to do everything together.

So i was VERY stupid when i asked my parents if it would be alright to take T-bone with us and they gladly said yes.

in the Philippines we stayed at a gated resort.

so we where there a week or so and one day someone left the door opened and T-bone got out.

we looked and looked for him,we couldn't find him.

till one day my fathers friend told him that one of the guards have eaten my dog.

my dad was ferocious he went and found a guard grabbed him by the caller of his shirt and demanded him to tell what happened to T-Bone.

and the guard explained that one of the other guard was a very poor man and found a bat and corner T-bone,hit him over the head with the bat, barbecued and eat him.

I was heart broken i cried for weeks......

and still till this day i am devastated.

my dad was SO angry he went on a hunt for that guard but later we found out that guard ran away to another island.

So i guess he killed my dog out of hunger more then a delicacy.

but yup its true SICK and cruel.

and if i ever go to a foreign country i will leave my dogs with a family member.

ADD: to Fallon.....i happen to be Vegetarian so to me Its SICK.... and to a lot of meat eaters as well.

cows are breed to be killed and eaten witch to me is sick BUT dogs where bred for work and a companion not to be lunch.

    ADD: Thanks Chef Lysol.

    And whats up TD fairies ;}

ADD: Thank You it was very hard....but yup i agree with you it is sick. dogs don't have that much meat anyway..lol and who could eat such a magnificent creature? Dogs are a gift from god all they give is unconditional love :]

  6. I feel the same way I think it's sick, but then again I eat cows and pigs and I would love to have both as a pet... so I guess it's just how you are brought up

  7. I'm sure they will enjoy their eternity in h**l!

  8. Well, to each his own.

While people that keep the animals for pets may see it as barbaric, what about people in India that worship cattle, we look pretty barbaric too.

I personally wouldn't do anything to someone who prepared the dog for eating. In their culture, its normal. While I may disagree with it, I'm not going to walk up to them and tell them that they are horrible people.

I don't eat meat, but I respect my fiancee who does. I'd rather us be able to co-exist in our own home at the dinner table than yell at each other for seeing things differently.

Respect is a virtue, even if you disagree.

ADD> I agree with Fallon. People eat cattle, pigs, chicken, fish, etc. No one throws up a fit over that. Many of those animals are companion animals too.

ADD2> Witch, do you think everyone that eats meat will end up in h**l, or just people that eat animals that you like? Either value ALL life, or none at all.

  9. It all depends on how and where you were raised. Nutritionally a dog is basically no different from a cat or a cow or a pig.

For us in western culture, and most other parts of the world, we view dogs as "cute" and "friendly" but pigs can be brought up the same way and are actually smarter. In India Hindus don't eat cows, they worship them. They probably view our cow eating as barbaric and offensive the same way we look at dog eaters.

So in short, you can talk all you want about how you hate dog eaters or baby seal eaters whatever, but in the end, it doesn't make a l**k of difference to the guy in north korea who is starving or the buddhist somewhere else who thinks you are disgusting for eating meat in the first place.

In the end, we can just agree to disagree on what is sick and what isn't. Then you can get on with your life. Oh, and try to worry about other people who are sick and/or dying in wars or poverty instead of the dogs.

  10. hmm why don't you think about that the next time you bite into your hamburgers....you eat cows as delicacy! Im korean so i get that c**p about dog eating which i agree is wrong too but it's just customs and not much of that happens these days anymore. UHM...yeah hypocrite.

EDIT: all of you replying saying we burn in h**l or hate us are the biggest hypocrites. DID any of you not read my answer and some others?? Americans eat pigs and cows, etc. and you think your doing the right thing by cutting up a cows throat and consuming it? it's a custom, you guys have no respect and should shut up. I am fed up with this BS.

  11. i would be pretty scared..i guess. i hate people who eat dog, it's disgusting and gross. no matter what other people say i will always think it's horrible.

  12. You eat cows, chickens, pigs, ect..don't you?

    That's what I thought.

(unless by a stroke of luck you are a vegetarian)

    It's a cultural thing.

I'm not one for telling people what to do.

That doesn't mean I support it, but I don't support eating any kind of meat.

  13. Well, in this country (USA) dogs are looked at as companion animals and people don't normally eat them.  But you could say the same thing about rabbits, cows, chickens, pigs,.................the list goes on.  In some places they eat guinea pigs.  It isn't even a delicacy, it is a normal meat source.  So, it's all in the culture and what is taboo or not.

  14. I couldn't imagine eating dog anymore than you could but that is because our culture holds dogs up above other animals. Other cultures don't. I have no problem with it. You eat beef but if you went to a Hindu country they wouldn't be very impressed.

  15. i dont have a problem with it. honestly its part of certain people's culture. in some religions cows are considered sacred but you dont see them throwing a fit over me slapping a steak on the grill do you? who am i to try to change something thats been done for centuries. who are we to go into someone else's country and culture and tell them that all they know is wrong. honestly dictating other people's cultures is wrong. its like what my old geography teacher always said. you can go to some village in the middle of nowhere that has no running water or electricity or anything and tell them that they are going to get sick by living in houses made of animal f***s or drinking water straight from a river. its all they have ever known. if someone came into your home and told you that you were living the wrong way by relying on electricity and all the other comforts of the lives that most people have in the US you would be extremely offended.
