  1. There is no "Best" martial art, doesn't exist and never will. The closest that we get is something along the line of Jeet Kune Do, Hawain Kempo or just flat out MMA. The reason I say that these are as close as you get to having a true "Best" style or art is that all of these borrow techniques from all other styles and then blend them to suit the individual practitioner. In any other sense of the word there is no best art. Contrary to what some may say...like retro preaching his boxing message. I boxed for 3 years and boxing is good, but what happens when you have a larger stronger man on top of you thumping your head in. The best boxer in the world has no chance at that point and a good wrestler or judoka can easily get the best boxer down...end of story. All arts have value and all teach worth while lessons and can be effective to fight with, but don't get ego and hide bound into thinking your art is the best and only worth studying because it isn't true for any art.

As for self defense BS, well there isn't a style that I have every trained in or even heard of that is going to teach weapons with out you having been in for a while, done the self defense and some empty hand work. You might think this idea is lousy, but the first time you knock yourself out with a staff or a pair of nunchucks you'll change your mind.

Your not getting off on your best foot if this is going to be your mentality and approach to mearning any fighting style no matter the art.

    Good luck.

  2. Japanese Jiu-jitsu. ( kobudo weapons )

    Best wishes :)***

  3. If you think you're going to find a martial art without self defence your insane. Most sequences have self defence parts. Karate will have weapons like nunchucks, staffs and swords. But if you want to just learn fighting, you're stuck. Self'defence is a big part of any martial arts.

  4. Boxing. Everything else is a waste of time.

You can learn to box effectively for self defense in two or three months. All the other systems take years and years of dedication and practice.

Don't waste you time, do Boxing and learn to fire a gun. Problem solved.

  5. self defense is for getting out of a fight before it starts, but seeing as you desire physical contact go with Muay Thai, Wing Chun, full contact Karate or Savate. You mess some people up while still learning effective fighting techniques.  And you won't be watered down with "all that self defence bullshit", as you so eloquently stated.

  6. there is know absolute best

  7. All styles will have some element of self defense, but here are a few that cut down on tradition over combat: Krav Maga, Combat 56, FMA (such as Eskrima or Silat), Defendo, Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, or even basic Karate for its range of weapons.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Vale tudo, Muay Thai, Boxing are all striking focused arts, but lack weapons.

  8. Ok I am not gonna name call but self defense is fighting, but it is also learning how to avoid a fight. Most styles will not teach you weapons until you have at least gotten the emty hand basics down.

As for the question there is no "best". that is all up to the individual person, what fits them, how good their instructor is, and how realisticly they train.

Edit fo retroact- Don't lie just to impress people. If you had truly been in hundreds of street fights you would either be too crippled to type, or in jail. Why do we have to put up with internet ninja's and wanna be's?
