  1. I was there for 5 days in May and I don't think its worth it. The metro tickets are cheaper and lots of the major attractions are near metro. The longest I ever had to walk to a metro was probably 15-20 minutes but its part of the trip, your going to walk alot. The hop on/off is only good if its walking distance to your hotel. If it isn't your going to have to take the metro to spot where it starts bus hop on/off. Trust me if you plan your trip right you won't use a lot of metro tickets because lots of attactions are near each other so you can just walk. For hop on/off pass it cost $35 U.S. for 2 days. The metro costs 11.10 euro for 10 tickets. I used about 30. Hope this helps and enjoy your trip your going to love it!

  2. Getting a multi-day pass for the transport system is worth it just to avoid the hassle of buying individual fares. And, depending on number of trips, you can save quite a bit.  For one thing, when you have a pass, lots of short trips make sense - just hop on, hop off, or interrupt a longer trip  because something looks interesting.

  3. No it is not worth buying if you are referring to the Paris Viste Pass.

If you really feel you will use a lot public transport then buy a Mobilis, a one day pass. It is not described on the RATP website but it is on sale at every metro ticket booth.

But consider whether riding a lot of public transportation makes sense.

A four day trip is a very short time to see Paris. Take the time to lay out a detailed itinerary for every day you will be there. If you do this efficiently you will find that you will be walking only very short distances between sights.

For example, a typical tourist day might be Notre Dame to Sainte Chapelle to the Conciergerie to the Parc de Vert Galant to the Vedettes du Pont Neuf (for a boat ride up the Seine) to the Louvre. To get from each of these sights to the next is a 5 or 10 minute walk. You would walk further to find a bus or metro stop.

The notion that in a brief trip you're best off just wandering around hoping to see something interesting is absurd.
