  4. It is morally and ethically wrong. There is no need to kill these beautiful and endangered creatures for food, "research" or any other purpose. Japan hides their sick mass murder of these lovely intelligent & gentle animals under the guise of scientific research, when in fact they are hunting them as delicacies for the rich. They also kill dolphins and market their flesh as whale meat. (Watch Earthlings on you tube.) It's not simply "making a living". Whale meat is a luxury item, it is not a necessity it is a luxury. Along with fur, leather, silk meat and other animal products. Humans can live a more ecologically sustainable, moral and just lifestyle if they want to. People and industry are just too greedy to give up these non-essential luxury items. We can live a more sustainable future if we choose to, we don't have to plunder and destroy the earth.

    [edit]: that article sounded like a sick joke. it was rife with pro-whale bias. the profits of whaling *DO NOT* go to starving children, that is an utter LIE. Whale and dolphin meat is served as a delicacy to rich business people, NOT starving children. The entire world population could be well fed and starvation a thing of the past, if we all adopt more sustainable farming practices, based on organic and lower meat consumption. Ha! feeding the starving children whale meat, and donating the profits, how can any one even believe such a thing.

    when i think of whaling...i just wanna scream!!!! it's so frustrating!!! if  humans are really this barbaric...then i dont wanna be 1...coz they're so pathetic!!

    yes..animals do have feelings too!!

    but not only japan that does whaling...others like the Carribean, Norway, Greenland, Iceland, Russia...

  6. I am not a vegetarian & I'm not against the killing of animals for food. But, I am against illegal harvesting of endagered species. Those who wish to hunt for their own consumption should stay within the limits of the law. There are always going to those who kill animals illegally for a prophit as long as there is a market for the meat. I would support stricter laws to catch & prosecute these individuals.

  8. Japanese whaling is horrific... I read an article a while ago on a report that scientists read about the types of experiments the whales are used for, and apparently it included such ones as 'cross-breeding whales and cows' wth??

    Whales are intelligent, beautiful creatures, and whaling is cruel and inhumane.  Why must humans in general exploit every living and non-living thing we can get our hands on?

    I'm also a vegetarian and so am against any killing of animals.

It's a joke they do it in all waters they slaughter whales in the name of science they don't give a darn what they do they just do it.Also what about drift nets kilometres of fish net set out to indiscriminately net anything in the water,I agree with the other answer we should use the Japanese whaling/fishing fleets for torpedo practise
