Question:

What do u think of the American Protesting the Women's 100 metre?

I mean they are saying that they false started and that the race should be re -run. If u false start a race, shouldn't u have a distinct advantage, and so, wouldn't other countries have the right to protest it. Then why is it that u are protesting about ur own false start. Finally, if the Americans had won 1, 2, 2, do you think they would still protest the "false Start?"

  1. its a joke, its like being in a car race and getting a head start, then as soon as the race is over you demand a restart because you took off early. the appeal is so low i would be embarrassed of my country if they tried it.

  2. Judy M... with all due respect, at that level athletes do not pull up until they are told to and the replays show that every runner kept going like there was nothing wrong.

This was a poorly thought out objection by  the US team which, like the US media's unconventional and convenient interpretation of medal counts, had done little to endear the US team to other nations.

This is irritating, to say the least, as these indiscretions by NON athletes have diminished and detracted from some remarkable performances by US athletes (Michael Phelps and Dara Torres spring to mind and congratulations America on two standout performances) and do little to enhance the reputation of a worthy US team.

The personal attacks in this forum do nothing for US credibility either.

MY congratulations to Jamaica. What a magnificent effort and a great result. You should be very proud of your speedsters, for their achievement and their very dignified and sporting behaviour!

  3. they need to get over it.

jamaicans time to shine and we r doing that.

  4. It's only a false start if the judges say it is.

    They lost fair and square.

  5. There was no false start...it wasn't called. In fact the starting blocks are now electronically sensitized that if there is more than about 88lbs of pressure put on them prior to the starting gun going off, it means someone has "pushed off" the starting blocks too soon.

In any case, regardless of the country, a 1-2-2 finish is unbelievable!!!

  6. oh man this frizz dude is making my stomach hurt with laughter. I have no option but to believe he is being ultra sarcastic with these comments.

Anyways, if they want to protest they false started, they can be handed a DQ instead of whatever number place they finished.

  7. they are complaining and they false started? lol

  8. Because USA is rascal. what a sore loser~~

  9. It's definitely *not* an advantage if you yourself thought you might have made a false-start and pulled back before realizing that c**p, it wasn't actually one. That said, asking for a review of the olympics after a HISTORIC 1-2-2 finish by one country does trigger some eye-rolling.

Anyway, the olympics wouldn't be complete without all the bitching and whinging (see gymnastics)

  10. I think they are right.

    different people have different opinions

  11. Here you go kids. A prime example why you don't want to smoke dope. Do us a favor "mon"...learn how to write.

I'm pleased Jamaica won something. Their men and women are so fast. They deserve out congratulations.

  12. Where did you learn to write, off a matchbook?

  13. probably not...and its jamaica's year but next time US will be back on top..US has been so good for so long we got kinda lazy where as those small Caribbean countries were hungrier to win...we need to step our game up...

  14. If the judges didn't call a false start, then it wasn't a false start. I think they're just being sore losers, considering they didn't even get a medal position. If they did win all the medal positions, they wouldn't care if anyone false started.

  15. A protest is a protest....it happens in everything not just this event. Swimming the other night had two different protests. It means they just override the field judge official and take it to the technical board who can review the race by replay.

It can be overturned if the technical review board finds a mistake was made by the human official in the field.

It is not to disrespect the other contestants but it is done to make sure a human did not make a human mistake by overlooking something.

At least the jokes are over about the Bobsled team from Jamaica..
