  1. A disgrace! Disrespected the Marine Corps...I'm glad many of those Marines were punished!  One got kicked out!  Oorah!  That is not how the Marine Corps really is portrayed!

  2. I can take it or leave it. It's HBO

  3. I dont watch TV

  4. Most people who don't like won't want to see anything bad said about what they love..I remember the flak we had about "BlackHawk Down" and I knew 30 guys in the actual fight, trained with 3rd Ranger Batt at FT. Bliss before they went in over 1993 and buried one of them (SGT Ruiz who died at the end of movie).

Yet, you hear not outcry now about the book and movie do you and it is regarded as a masterpiece? Same with "Saving Private Ryan". No matter what bad and ugly things they show about the Army we can can take it....

I think folks need to lighten up...remember that movie "JarHead"? Where was the outrage then? Wasn't that off of a book of actual experiences? Where are all the actual memebers of the unit protesting or deny anything? The book is over how many years old? I guess people only want a perfect view and remember it is a TV SHOW and can't be worse than "Gomer Pyle".

Just lighten up and tell me if your in the 'know' things don't go now that way in grunt land..maybe that's why it's painful to watch for some to take it. And it's better than "Over There"...

  5. I like it. There is a strong correlation to the experience I had with the competence of some officers. The dialog is is pretty dead on, and the military lingo brings back a lot of memories for me.

I can see what rekon dog is saying though... I hated "Jarhead" - thought the book and the movie were a disgrace.

  6. I enjoy it, I had previously read the book when it was first published, not knowing it was going to be a HBO series eventually.

I know there is a lot of "Hollywood" that goes from making a book into a movie, so some of it is a bit over exaggerated or make believe.

As far as the attitudes, how they talk, and the lingo, I'd say it pretty accurate.  I laugh at some of the things they do, and I laugh because I know it's true.  Some people may think it's random ranting, those of us that truly know are the ones than find it humorous.

I like how they play actual radio traffic during the closing credits.  Who remembered what a S.A.L.U.T.E. was???

  7. I like it.  I find it interesting.  I've watched it "On Demand" every Sunday night, except for tonight's episode.  So far, so good.
