  1. Here's a list of animal-sourced ingredients. I don't know how strict you are, so I'll just list everything I avoid (and put sources if I can think of the source, but many things I just know aren't vegan!).

    -Gelatin (from bones)

    -Casein (dairy)

    -Beeswax (bees)

    -Honey (bees)

-Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) (from sheep, I believe); Ergocalciferol (D2) is vegan

    -Albumin (eggs)

-Monoglycerides (These are sometimes vegan, sometimes not.)

    -Diglycerides (Same as above)

-Lecithin (Can be from plant, but if it does not say the source [e.g. soy lecithin] then it could be from animals)

    -Egg whites

    -Egg white powder

    -Skim milk

-L-cysteine (can go either way, but the most common source is human hair, while disgusting, does not harm the "donor")

Those are the most common that I see, I think, but here's a nice long list of things to look out for! :)

  2. animal based products (such as cheese) because the animals arent treated right in the farms or whatever where they get the milk from them to make the cheese

and products tested on animals (medicines, shampoos, etc) because again the animals are often mistreated

tho it depends on how srict of a vegetarian you are

google vegetarian and youll get a better answer

  3. Vegetarians don't eat slaughter byproducts, which are foods or ingredients that come from the slaughter of animals.  This includes rennet, which is in some cheeses, but not all; if you put your mind to it, you can find perfectly vegetarian-friendly cheeses.  It also includes gelatin, meat broths, lard, beef tallow, and ingredients like chicken fat, chicken powder, and the like.  The term "natural flavors" denotes something that can be from either animal or plant sources, so they *can* be un-vegetarian (most flavors of Doritos, for example, source natural flavors from pork) or they can be vegetarian-friendly.

  4. You aren't a vegetarian. You are a vegan. Vegetarians do not eat mammal, poultry, and fish. Vegans also don't eat eggs or dairy. :)

  5. Incorporate Fish into your diet, and take out Cheese. Fish is not tortured, it is taken out of the ocean and immediately killed from either lack of Water or being gutted. Fish is also not contaminated as it is fresh, you can eat a fish alive and be completely fine. Cheese on the other hand, well you know what I'm talking about. Besides Cheese you are a complete Vegan, so theirs nothing else you need to avoid.

P.S: Most people don't know this but most bread contains milk so avoid that.

  6. i am a vegetarian and i dont eat any kind of meats, dairy items {ice cream, cheese, milk, yogurt, etc} , or gelatins {jello, jelly, jelly beans, skittles, hot tamales, basically any gooey candy, because gelatin is made of animal bones}

  7. dunno

  8. Vegetarians avoid the flesh of all animals.  This includes chickens, fishes, and other sea creatures.  Vegetarians also avoid gelatin, a protein from rendering the bones, connective tissues, and hides of slaughtered animals.  Rennet, used to coagulate some cheeses, is from the fourth stomach of veal calves.  Look for rennetless cheese or cheese made with vegetable or microbial rennet.

Dairy and eggs are suitable for a vegetarian diet.  It's vegans who avoid all animal products.

  9. Gelatin. It's made from animal by-products and found in a lot of foods like Jello and candies. Also watch the synthetic ingredients in packaged food and know where they come from - some are also animal by-product.

  10. Do you know WHY you are a vegetarian. That seems to be an important part of being a vegetarian that you lack. Those reasons would dictate what you should or should not eat. Unless of course it's for religious reasons.

  11. Vegetarians only need to steer clear of meat. Vegans don't eat anything that comes from an animal.

  12. you should omit refined carbs from your diet, but I'm sure a lot of vegetarians don't.  It's ok though.

  13. Gelatin-made from dead animal tissue/ cartilage (marshmallows, jello, some low fat dairy items such as sour cream or margerine)

L-cystiene -a dough conditioner made either from animal whiskers or human hair. Neither sounds too yummy to me.

Natural flavoring-is sometimes a cover all for animal ingredients in sauces.

Anchovies are in worsteshire sauce (bloody marys)

Most white sugar is also filtered through animal char (burned bones). This is a tough one to avoid. Vegan items are not made with white sugar for this reason.
