What do verizon wireless modems do? ?

I need desperately to make my laptop run faster / better.

What do the modems do that you can get through verizon wireless??

How much is it for a two year contract??

This will not make your computer faster or better.  Its just a way of getting on the internet.

Verizon wireless modems will provide mobile broadband to your laptop . Its by no means faster then DSL or Cable internet or any wired form of broadband access but it is available almost anywhere.

Last time I checked the cards were like $200 and its was $60/month for unlimited access.

The modems are cellphones with computer ports - they put your computer on the internet through the cellphone network.  The current average speed is about 250kbps - nowhere near even a slow speed DSL connection (750kbps).  But you get internet connectivity almost anywhere in the US - cars, out in the street, etc.

If you need internet connectivity almost anywhere, you use a wireless modem.  If you need speed you get a cable internet account or, if it's available where you are, a FiOS account.
