  1. This is so sad! What do they do? I am filled with images of poor animals being euthanized or having to be sent to the gas chamber!

  2. Sometimes they are buried, sometimes cremated.

  3. They cremate them, Most of the time they put in a bunch but they can have special requests to have an animal cremated alone so that you can have the remains.

  4. Normally.. They give it back to you.

  5. It depends on a few things...if you live in a city you're generally not allowed to bury your pet on your property (because it's the city's property) and therefore the body is not generally given back to the owners unless they will be burying the pet at a sanctioned pet cemetery. In rural areas, alot of people choose to bury their pet on their property and can ask for the body to be given back.

If the vet is keeping the body, the family usually has the choice to have a private cremation (meaning that your pet is the only one at the time being cremated) and have the cremated remains back to keep, either in a scatterbox (so you can open it and scatter the ashes) or in a sealed urn, otherwise the body is sent for a communal cremation, meaning that it is cremated with numerous other pets and the ashes are disposed of.

  6. Here in my area they are cremated by a company that does this unless of course the family requests the animal to bury it.
