What do volunteers at hospitals do exactly?

  1. Answer phones, show patients where to go, give directions around town, comfort patients and family, hospitality.

    patient information is confidential so you may not be allowed to work around that since laws are always changing.


  2. We transport patients from one room to another as requested by hospital staff. We transport them to the main hospital when doctors have determined that they are well enough to go. We make sure cupboards are stocked with linen, pillowcases, gowns, etc. We place clean sheets on the bed when patients leave and find carts (beds) for new patients that come in out of the ambulance or street. Our jobs are fast paced and require strength to push a cart with a patient and the ability to walk 3-5 miles over the course of a shift. We also greet patients and their families and assist nurses as needed. Great exercise and great way to give back to the community. Contact me if you have further questions.
