What do we, as humans, fear the most?

I have heard many quotes stating what we, as a society, or as humans, fear the most. One is that we fear our own strength. A second is that we are so afraid of what is different from us that we drive it away, disguising our fear as hatred, which is why there is a such thing as racism, sexism, homophobes and such. I have also heard that we fear change so much that there is a whole political party dedicated to it. Advice has been given that the only thing that one should fear is death, but I don't even fear that. What is it that the human race fears above all things?

  20. Given our powerful urges, it appears it is the termination of the family or tribe and thru them the ending of our specie. 70,000 years ago it almost happened. We dropped to fewer than 10,000 people from about 3 million! I don't believe we have ever overcome that trauma. When all the chips are down, we will do anything to preserve our tribe. We did it before and I think we'll do it again if the need arises.
