  1. I am overcome with indifference

  2. I've lived in England.  Americans get nowhere close to as nasty as the Brits do, regarding anything.  Remember, we are the "Puritan Americans" you so love to insult.  If only the British could treat their allies with the same political correctness they do their British Muslims.

  3. Well I'm a Brit and I like him.  I think he will do good thigs for America and for us as America's ally.  I'm sh*tting myself at the thought of McCain getting in.  He'll go straight over and pick a fight with Iran, drag us into it and we'll all end up getting nuked . . .

  4. It makes me laugh how some of them desperately try to convince everyone that he is a muslim/terrorist etc. when he really obviously isn't.

What also amazes me is how a country that thinks it is the most forward-thinking and modern in the world is so medieval and racist!!!

But I agree, vote for or aganist him on his policies, yet I havn't seen a single question asking what his policies are etc. - does anyone actually know???

  5. A Brit neigh saying American politics!? This from a Nation which savages politicos in a fashion that Americans consider to be beyond the pale!

The pot and kettle thing aside, American politics was a lot worse in our early history than it is now. That we seem to be striving for that nadir of taste and comity again, is clearly evident. No recent campaign has been free of the vitriol and invective generated from each competing side. Personal attacks, having nothing to do with a candidate's fitness for office, is standard now. Occasionally these attacks walk the ragged edge of libel.

That our politics has become very nasty and hateful is a given. That we should be subject to rebuke from a Brit is too ironic for words.

    Glass house,old man; glass house.

  6. I dont care who they vote for personally

  7. I was glad to see your question.  I am an American, and I am embarrassed by the sadistic campaign of lies and innuendo being carried on in an attempt to defeat Senator Barack Obama's bid for the presidency.  A similar campaign was launched against Senator John Kerry, and came to be known as swiftboating.  I have wondered what the rest of the world might be thinking.  I would love to discuss the real issues or answer legitimate guestions, but these people use any forum they can to attempt to instill fear and suspicion by making up vicious lies and avoiding the real issues.  Senator Obama has an Internet site called Fight the Smears, which answers many of the false accusations leveled at him.  Snopes and other urban legend sites also debunk the lies.  A struggle is going on right now to reclaim our democracy.  For the last 7 1/2 years any objections to the Iraq War, torture, domestic spying, and other extreme policies have been ignored or silenced.  We now have a chance to reverse the dangerous path we are on and again abide by our Constitution.  Wish us luck.  We will need it.  And thanks for your question.

  8. You have lost direction in your outpouring. You seem to be asking the UK one (Sort of) question and finding something else to ask of Americans.

  9. The American people have total freedom of speech enshrined within the Constitution and Bill of Rights etc.

Here in UK while we do have freedom of speech, it is not total, in that a person can bring a case against someone in court for such as slander, defamation of character etc.

So, while Americans can shout and sneer at their politicians and get away with it, we must be careful what we say here in UK.

In any case the American people have a Revolution, which as far as I know, is still ongoing - unless I am ill informed.  The shooting part stopped and was replaced by the shouting part, which continues to this day.

    Good for them.

While we here in UK may very well want Obama or anyone other than GWB as President of the USA, it really is the case that we don't have a vote and at best have our noses stuck against the window outside in the cold.  If you see what I mean.

We've just got to let the Americans do it how they know best and maybe learn a few tricks.

I'm all for open debate, if only I knew what the h**l all the shouting was about.
