at home b4 schooling we learn fr our siblings / parents abt our country and how to celebrate halloween, independence day, parades.  that is the beginning of the socialization process.

in school these basic ideas of our sense of being in our country is further emphasized and cemented in our minds and actions.  

likewise when we r adults and later we filter it down to our own kids

use these and fit them into the theories above

The term socialization is used by sociologists, social psychologists and educationalists to refer to the process of learning one’s culture and how to live within it.

There is also Primary Socialization and Secondary Socialization. Primary socialization includes your parents and people very close to you. Secondary socialization occurs through the media and other societal institutions.

Socialization process is how we fit into society, due to external factors, in its simplest form we are socialised by two main points: Primary and Secondary Socialisation.  Primary Socialisation deals with how we are brought up in our family, learning the societies general norms, values, and our roles within the structure. Where as Secondary socialisation deals with our years at school, which carry on from our family ideals (supposedly), we of course learn the skills for work (roles) and everything that comes along with it.  The media and other social factors also play a role as agents of socialisation.

Different outlooks will question what norms and values are passed, e.g. Marxist theory questions if it is the dominant force which comes fourth from the Economic Base, creating a biased Super Structure where the schools, media, etc are all biased to Capitalism in the Western World.
