  1. For a new cat you will need appropriate cat food (kitten food for a kitten), a food bowl and a water bowl, toys, something to scratch on (a scratching post is best in my experience), a litter box and kitty litter.  New cats should be initially placed in just one room of the house, and given access to the litter box and food/water.  After they've adjusted to their new home, you can give them wider access (this cuts down on litter box accidents, because if they're just in one room they don't have as much trouble finding the litter box when they need it).

Declawing is a pretty controversial issue.  It can be extremely traumatic for a cat; it generally involves removing the first joint of each toe (the equivalent of taking off the end joint of each of your fingers).  This can be difficult for the cat to heal from, especially because they instinctively dig in their litter boxes when they use them.  You also have to be very careful not to ever let the cat outside, because their claws are their major weapons and without them, they can't defend themselves against other animals or climb trees to get away.  My cats still have their claws even though they're indoor only because some day, I want to get a dog, and if it harasses them I want them to be able to fight back.

If you do decide to declaw your cat, please go to a responsible veterinarian, take very good care of the cat afterward, and make sure to do it when the cat is very young.  Once a cat is a few months old, it has gotten used to having claws.  Removing them at that point is very, very upsetting to the cat and can make even a previously nice cat angry and mean.

  2. do not DECLAW!! DONT!! it's cruel and its the same thing as taking our whole finger nail off. please for the sake of your poor kitty do not declaw him/her.

You need a little tray full of water, kitty-litter, a box to put the litter in, some food ( i use pro plan its really good)

  3. i personally think declawing is cruel, so my opinion on that is no, do not get your cat declawed. as far as what you will need for a cat, a food dish, food, litter, a litterbox, a few toys, a cozy bed, and maybe a scratching post if you are concerned it is going to scratch your stuff up. cats are pretty easy.

  4. Litter box, Food, Bowls, Litter granules, Beds, Blankets, Scratching posts, Brush & Plenty of money for vet bills! xxxx

  5. You need to get a cat neutered or spayed if it is Male it gets neutered if it is female it gets spayed I would recommend getting it declawed and some things you need for it are:

    Food

    Litter box

    brush

    Toys

    Water and food bowls

    a bed

    space

scratching post (or you will have fur all over)

    Good luck and Congrats!!!

  6. Declawing is inhumane, cruel and very painful.  There is no need - how would you like it if someone pulled all your finger nails out. See link

  7. a low litter box  so it can climb in and out of.... depending on how small a kitten..

no to declawing... spay or neuter yes.. when old enough.. talk to a vet..

lots of toys and playthings..... another kitten from the same litter would be nice -  always good for cats to have a partner in crime... so you wont know "who did it"...  that was a joke...

something to brush them with... if its an indoor /outdoor.. a flea comb..  only indoor .. a brush will do...

  8. DO NOT get your cat declawed. I worked at a vet's where they did declawing and it's absolutely disgusting. I had to help in the procedure and regretted it ever since. They slice their fingers open, pull the skin back, and cut the tips of them off (the BONES, people.) It would be like cutting our fingers off at the top joint to prevent our nails from growing any further. It's repulsive.

For a new cat though, you need a litter box, scooper, litter, kitten food, bowls (not plastic, they cause acne), toys, and a local vet. You'll need to pay for an exam and shots, maybe deworming, and preferably spay or neutering.

  9. You need to decide if you are going to have to have the cat indoor or outdoor cat.

Claw removel is cruel, and if you're cat is going to be an outdoor cat, he/she may need those claws to defend it's self.

Things you should have for a kitten or older cat, cat litter box, water dish, food dish, toys that he/she may not play with (plastic balls w/ bells in them my cats love), and most important lots of love.

Cats can have health problems just like people do. Hyperthyroid, Hypothyroid, kidney, heart failure, diabetes, list goes on.

Cat's are pretty content when owners are away.

  10. well is it going to be inside or outside or both? if inside you will need litter box and may want to consider declawing the front claws. you should also neuter/spay them. and i recomend iams cat food and you will need to brush long haired cats
