  1. since humans are considered to be part of the "Great Apes" family then it  makes sense for Anthropologists to spend time studying our wild cousins.

  2. Nothing. They just like to make science interesting.

  3. Hey mate.

Anthropology (as I'm sue you already know) is the study of human beings and their behavior. 'Anthrop' comes from the Greek word anthropos, meaning 'human being', and 'ology' comes from the Greek word logos, meaning 'knowledge'.

And with the study of human being comes the study of other primates, i.e monkeys, apes and so on.

This is because it is stong theory that humans evolved from primates. So if we learn how primates behaved and still do we may find greater understanding in why humans do some of the things we do.

    I hope this helps.

  4. Studying primates is like studying the history of humanity.

  5. Because many groups of monkeys have forms of "culture" and "society" we can use them to see how our own humanity evolved.

  6. Anthropology is the study of behavior (mostly human behavior but the field has expanded to include many outside species that are similar).  The reason wild monkeys are studied is that it is believed that this, in addition to outside archaeological research, can give us an idea of the behavior of primate man (or Neanderthals) and Cro-Magnon  (the early off shoot of Homo sapiens or modern man) and help us better understand mankinds' past.
