i have been an occupant of a small inlaw since dec 2008 in san francisco. i'm a quiet school counselor have cause no trouble and now the landlord, a police officer, but it was actually the wife who rented the place to me...i've been told that i can have no overnight guests, no late night cooking, and preferable no visitors-especially no overnighters. I have a son, husband and three service dogs and he also states no dogs, but obviously doesn't know the calif law...by the by...there has never been a written anything....went to sf rental union, they laughed at his requests...by the way the unit is subterranea which i was told there was moisture, except now i have black mold in my bathroom and on the back of the frontdoor...i told Sue (wife/landlord) and she more or less laughed it off...I'm planning to put together a letter putling my rights and grievances outlined, but am looking for any sort of adivce or suposrt....thanks to all

  1. He can't impose these rules on you.  Why don't you move?  Why don't you report his illegal rentals?  A cop should obey the law not think he is above it.
