What do women think that making us jealous achieves?

This jealousy thing on the surface makes me wonder if the effort I am putting in to get to know a woman might be wasted time. she will say " I'm busy this weekend, but next week" when I didn't even ask her out (on a 3rd, 4th or 5th date). I understand that women try to make us jealous when they DO like us, so while we are trying to build a connection, we get this jealousy thing in the way. It's a sign they like us and all, but is there an explanation of how this is supposed to "help" the relationship between a woman and I?

Some woman need a boost to their ego, so to have a man jealous makes them feel wanted.  Myself jealousy is a waste of emotion. It gets in the way of who the people really are. I have enough self confidence that I don't need to have someone jealous and I only want to be with someone that has enough that they don't need their ego stroked.

I guess it achieves the same thing as men acheive when they are trying to make us jealous. Tell her you don't like it when she plays games, and if she continues, you give her a dose of her own medicine, and then break it off, it seems too hard, but then again I'm really lazy. ahah.

unfortunately ... women who illicit jealous responses are not thinking of anything or anyone else but themselves .   they re getting their attention "fix"  it doesnt matter much how they go about getting it or even if its negative attention or positive as long as its attention .  just dont give it attention and itll stop the behavior  but she ll probably leave you cuz she ll have to get her fix from somewhere .
