Question:

What do y'all think about Kinsler on the DL?

Obviously, this question is directed mainly towards Ranger fans, but feel free to answer even if you're not.

How do you think this will affect the team?

Now they're missing two very important offensive players in Kinsler and Murphy.

Murphy should be back in a week or two, but Ian could be out for the season if the doctors say he needs surgery.

Is this injury a big deal for the Rangers, or is it just a small bump in the road?

Your opinions?

  1. He is the most productive 2nd baseman in the game this year. 102 runs already! It's a huge blow to the Rangers (and my fantasy team). He was having a breakout season.

  2. Well, I think he's gonna make a drastic impact because it's a loss of a consistent bat with speed, and without Murphy, they're nothing much, because they're caught right now with Milton cooling down.

I hate his ****... he ruined my fantasy teams (3)

  3. This injury is definitely a big deal, considering Kinsler is having an amazing season. The Rangers didn't really have a chance though as you can only slug so much with pitching that terrible. Even worse, i now have to find a replacement for Kinsler on my fantasy team... only 2 weeks after losing Carlos Lee... oh what a year.

  4. The Rangers have been overrun with injurys this year.  Mostly to the pitching staff.  But the injurys to the position players have and will have the most impact.  Milton Bradley is Josh Hamilton's best friend in that lineup.  When bradley is not hitting behind Hamilton, he does not get a pitch to hit.  For example the bases loaded walk.  I am not positive but if bradley was in the linep they may have pitched to him.  David Murphy was a bad loss but Marlon Byrd got hot at the right time.  So we didn't miss him as much.  But Kinsler is our anchor.  He is our leadoff hitter and our run scorer.  I figure cattalanotto and boggs will fill in at the top.  But without Kinsler, our shot, however small it was, is gone at the playoffs.

  5. No doubt about it that Texas got hit hard with Kinsler going to the DL. Especially for the people who play fantasy baseball...his stats are irreplaceable for a 2nd basemen. Without Kinsler...the Rangers are missing out on a big run producer who drives in a lot of runs and is also a key base stealer for the team. Kinsler should rest because a sports hernia is a very painful injury even if your doing nothing.

  6. man that sucks :(

Although i'm not a Rangers fan i'm a big Ian Kinsler/Michael Young fan so i don't like seeing either one of em on the DL. Its going to hurt the team, Ian was tearing it up!

  7. i think it will suck real bad for the rangers i mean if they aren't bad enough

  8. Unfortunately for him, the team, and fans, at this very point, doesnt matter. Their last dozen games, losses,  took them out of WC race, and hopefully during off season the organization will finally get some quality pitching. With offense as theirs, a shame it goes wasted due to lack of pitching. Kinsler is a huge part of The Rangers offense and not having him in the line up, proves fatal for lack of run production.

Same ole story though season after season, and that is once again, SP.  If Kinsler is out for season, what slim chance they had to make WC is surely gone, for they need all the offense, power, they can get to make up runs the pitching consistently gives up.

  9. They've done amazing this year with less than decent pitching.  They have enough offensive tools to get them over the hump until Murphy comes back.

Kinsler will of course make a big difference to the offence, but I don't know that it will make or break the season they are having.  They had a shot at the wild card, but had to jump a number of teams to get to it.

I still think they will end in the same position with or without Kinsler, 2nd in their division, no playoffs.

On a bright note, in 3 fantasy leagues, close rivals have Kinsler and I don't have him in any, so for fantasy, I hope he's out for the season.

    (sorry)

  10. Of course it's a big deal, for this season.  But I wasn't looking for a playoff run this year anyway (good thing, huh?).  So for the long-term, a bump in the road for the Rangers, but horrible bad luck for Kinsler, whom I feel really bad for.

The silver lining:  Maybe we'll see if Joaquin Arias is ready for major league pitching.  If so, he could be valuable trade bait in the off-season.

  11. This injury is going to hurt them severely especially if they are trying one last run to try ti make it to the Playoffs as a Wild card.
