  1. I agree with Maria in that I do hope you have a large tank or plan on upgrading very soon.

I've had South American Arowana with Oscars, in a 75 while they grew out.  Didn't have much of an issue with them at all.  My Oscar pair were about 8 inches, my South American just under 10.  Yeah sure, the Oscars would you know, compete for food, especially crickets, but Arowana, if they are big enough know how to take care of themselves.  Oscars are not exactly upper level fish either, so I MAJORLY doubt this is a territory issue.  Oscars are not viscious or killers eater.  They just love to eat and love to redecorate tanks.  It's more rough play is about all.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Oscar was just trying to exert itself a little either.  You know, depending on the size of your Arowana, the Oscar might be starting to feel threatend with a larger size fish above him.

Can you post any pictures of this?

You are going to need some major league filtration for this tank too.  That's a very heavy waste output for these two fish, and after 1-2 years, anything under a 180 is going to be unsuitable for an Arowana.

  2. UUMMM...NO. i HOPE YOUR TANK IS 300 GALLONS!Opps, caps lock and to lazy to fix it. Anyway, he is probably just chasing the arowwana out of his territor.

  3. Are you sure it's not the opposite? I'm not sure how compatible the two are. :) But I do love Oscars, there's one at work in a huge 300 gallon tank with a bunch of bala sharks, and the little fishy man always follows me when he sees me, and tries to mimic my expressions, especially when I open my mouth or if I shake my head around.

  4. If either is new to the tank then I wouldn't be surprised. Oscars are very curious fish that will check out just about everything they can. Even if I make small changes or additions he checks them out. I hope your tank is quite large because the oscar alone needs a 55-75 gal tank and the arowana would need at least 200-250 gal, most would recommend more.

  5. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say if you bought a very expensive fish like an arowana you must know something about them and their tank requirements.

I doubt your Oscar is in love with your Arowana. Its more likely trying to show him who is in charge. If the Arowana decides it wants to be boss, it may use the Oscar as prey.

I would reconsider keeping those two fish together.
