  1. there is not much to add to that answer...usually the only way of recieving a card is arguing with the ref or the umpire, or using unexeptable language on the court

  2. That's new . . . in our league coaches can't get yellow or red cards.

But I suspect he was being a little too noisy, maybe about a call the ref made. Our coach gets threatened with yellow cards when he yells at the ref - red when he swears in Spanish at the ref *sigh, I wish he wouldn't* - and the only difference is that since the ref can't award it to him, he gives it to our captain instead. (That's the standard procedure here.)

As for not making a difference, it wouldn't unless he got two.

  3. It means an error

  4. yellow-warning

red- you are banned/kicked out of the game

    like any other sport.

  5. It depends on the rules you are using.

In USAV club and the international FIVB rules, a yellow card is a point or side out and point.  If the receiving team gets a yellow card, it is just a point for the serving team.  If  the serving team gets a yellow card, it is a side out to the receiving team and a point.

A red card in those rule sets means the person is expelled for the rest of the set (or game if you prefer), but they can return the next set.

A red and yellow card together mean the person is disqualified for the rest of the match.  They must leave the area within 1 minute or the team will default the match.

In the US high school or college rules, the yellow card is just a warning.  The red card is the point or side out and point.  The red and yellow together mean the person is expelled for the set and the red and yellow apart mean the disqualification for the match.
