What do you Think of the Name AMARILIS for Your child?for either a girl or boy.

the child wouldn't be named after anyone and the name has no special meaning,but do you think its a nice name for your child?

It's an okay name, not great at all but there are worse names. Amarilis is a kind of flower, right? I might give it to a girl, but never a boy.

Hmm....I wouldn't name my child that but it's not horrible. Maybe if you could find a cute nickname to call him or her. Amy for a girl, Amar for a boy? Eh...I'd think hard before you put that name on the birth certificate.

You have been watching too much of the movie "Music Man". The girl on that show is called Amarilis and the little boy can't say her name because he has a lisp. He pronounces it Amarithzz

It's beautiful. But the correct spelling is Amaryllis, and that looks prettier too. It's better to use the most common spelling of a name, else she could explain it all her life, that "no, that's spelled A-M-A-R-I-L-I-S, no Y..." :)

Do you know what this means? It DOES HAVE a special meaning.  What is it? It is NOT a boy's name for sure. Amarilis (correctly Amarylis) is a flower. Flowers are usually associated with girls, other plants are used for boys.

It's not a terrible name for a girl, but I could think of better.

"Amaryllis" is the name of a little girl character in the musical "The Music Man" and it's also the name of a flower.  It should be a girl's name, not a boy's (that would be too cruel).

Shortened to "Amy", it would be a cute name but otherwise, I don't think it would be a good name to name a girl.

mmm, not a big fan.  I think that's the name of a city in New Mexico.  Not that you couldn't name a child after a city.  It also reminds me of amarillo which is "yellow" in spanish.  Which then reminds me of armadillo and I think that is where we run into the real problem.

You'd name a boy after a flower?

I'd spell it Amaryllis (like it's supposed to be) but would not use it. My favourite floral name is Dahlia. If I ever have a daughter her name would be Dahlia Isadora. :)
