Its now a fact prices at the pump continue to rise and rise with no end in sight. World leaders are trying to push for flex fuels and other alt compared to oil (petro). Yet, at the same time oil companies execs continue to say they are losing money, but theses same execs retire with a multi million dollar benefits packages one after another.

  1. We have plenty of oil in our own country.. But the Liberals have not let us tap in to it. Now is the time.

  2. Of course I wont get best answer but this is the truth, even though nobody likes hearing it.....Gas is not expensive in USA at all. In fact, its very cheap. Its keeping up with inflation just like our food and other things, but for some reason people have started this trend where its hip to talk about gas prices it seems. Gas is only $1 more now, than it was in 2006. Thats pretty cheap. We are only paying $500 more this year on gas because your average american uses 10 gallons a week. If you worked at some low paying job like Tj Maxx or Walmart or something, I would expect that you would have gotten at least a .25 cent raise. A simple .25 cent raise a year on your job (or change jobs if you are not getting this) would cover the change in gas prices. So anybody who thinks they have less money because of gas, isnt taking this into consideration and should reevaluate their spending habits because its not because of gas prices why most americans are broke these days but they love to point the finger at that.

    So lets do the math:

Gas is costing you $250 more this year than it did last year overall.

If you get a .25 cent raise on your job, you should be making $480 more this year than you did last year overall.

Its not that gas prices are bad, its just that people have made it a "cool" thing to talk about it. It makes everyday ordinary people feel smart like they are talking about stock prices

  3. I say that gas should be somethings that should not be so much but not be so cheap. Gas in this country is on a big demand and if the consumers were smart they would lower it. It is some people that would not go get another car because of prices but preety soon they will start losing money. The country will not and i say will not stop everyone from driving no matter how mcuh it gets. people will constantly drive, comute, and run arrans all day everyday and gas companies will continually gain money. if you have a truck like hummer or tahoe it would be smart to trade it in for a smaller car or mini van with 4 to 2 cylinders which is how much power it needs to power the car whiuch means more gas being burned and more heat to the engine and more poower in the radiators to cool it down, in other words trade it in. now is the time to do it because in a few months when gas is $4.50 5.25 somethings like that nobody you know will but your truck. most gas guzzling trucks are very luxuriest so you will sell them  cheap for you and a deal for someone else. the new 2008 tahoe LTZ is a nice truck, my mom has one and its very nice but it drinks some gas. with those trucks they are a little on the high sides for how much money you pay for them but sell for less and i mean less to sell it. gas is outrageous and we should adjust to whats coming directly in our face, and do something- ride the bus-carpool , this country can make a difference one at a time. all the best and put this as best anser have a good day .....JiGsAw.....

  4. The high prices keep me from burning down my neighbor's house... and that makes me kind of sad.

  5. First of all, it's not just gas... Been the grocery store lately?  Checked your utility bill?

I don't complain.  I feel that energy can be better served finding a way for me to conserve.  Bottom line is I have a budget for food, utilities and gas. And, I don't exceed it.

I find ways to make what I have work within my budget because if you made $50k/year in 2002 and now you make

$70k/year your income has not kept up with the rise in inflation, utilities, food and gas.

I think we need to stop complaining and do something. Conserve! Want oil prices to fall, cut back on consumption...simple supply & demand.  I guess to other people on this board I'm probably looking like a genius by now, but that's not the case.  I've seen this all before.. "I know how this movie ends, still I play... the starring role in Hovito's Way!" Jay-z

Don't expect oil to fall that far. You have insurance in case you die? Insurance for your car, home...? Then just buy some oil ETF's. For example, if oil goes to $200, and you invest just $2k, the difference you'll profit will offset the increase in gas and food.   If Oil goes down, then the cost of food, utilities, gas... almost everything will go down so you'll offset your investment.  I started doing this at Bush's inauguration because I remembered when his dad was in office... and I knew they were all oil men who gangstered their way into office.

I turned $4500 into almost $30k in seven years (Gas/Food/Utilities Money) and I'm still long as long... as he's president. But, I have some short term puts to insure the short-term downside.

All you have to do is travel anywhere whether it be abroad or domestic to see the increase in demand for oil. Don't get me wrong $150 oil is unsustainable. But, as the world becomes smaller and emerging markets grow, so will the demand for oil. Moreover, we in America are just spoiled and wasteful and will suffer because of it. Ever pull into a gas station in Germany? Denmark? France? Italy? Do you hear them complaining all day everyday putting it on the front page of the paper? NO. They just don't buy as much, use public transportation and conserve. And, on top of all that 40% of what they spend on GAS is used to supply universal healthcare to ALL of their citizens.  I make six figures and can barely afford therapy for an injury suffered years ago.

In the US, just hop on any interstate east of the Mississippi and you'll see people doing 80-90mph like it's the speed limit and they're driving alone for the most part. Yet, they complain when they pull up to the gas pump. Want to save gas and affect demand... Slow TF down on the highway, for one. We're like little kids who want to eat everyone's ice cream and leave ours in the fridge. No, we need to drill for oil in ANWR, conserve, carpool, use public transportation if possible, implement more renewable energy sources, recycle, and don't waste.

... and find a way to provide universal healthcare for all of our CITIZENs, not "undocumented residents."  There's an oxymoron for you.
