According to this article it proves people are being tortured.

Even 16 year olds.

Some of the people are innocent and just being abused.

It was on television back in June. On CBS.

The majority are being punished and can't get lawyers to help them. Terrorist or not.

Nobody confesses they all end up dying because of the harsh torture/ abuse.

Do you really believe Guantanamo Bay isn't just a way to punish the enemy? Another way to threaten terrostist.

What do you think about it?

  1. Sounds like you believe everything you read and see.  But you are entitled to your own opinion.  I hope our P.O.W's are being treated ok........oh never mind, they drag them through the streets and cut their heads off.  No big deal right?

  2. These prisoners have been confined since 2002.  Whatever info they may have on the enemy is quite old and obsolete.  It's beyond me why they continue holding and interrogating these people.  A complete waste of American tax dollars.

To Diva:  There are many witnesses who have come forward and stated that the young man is innocent.  They stated that a fellow American soldier threw a hand grenade in the wrong direction, due to the confusion of the battle.

  3. War is evil and the humans are the worst animals in the universe. We are predators that kill anything and everything. A 16 year old in 2004 was 14 years old when captured in 2002. Even if he is guilty of the crimes he has committed he as a human being has rights. A lawyer to defend him. The ability to see his family or even a small glimmer of hope. We gave Saddam all of that and then some.

McCain was a POW for 5 years and he was a military man he knew what he was getting in to. He at least had hope that some day he would be free. This kid has spent 6 year in a prison without a trial in the most civilized county in the world.

We say you are innocent until proven guilty not guilty until proven Innocent.

Lets not forget that we are AMERICANS and we are AMERICA. This not what our countries founding fathers would have wanted for us to look like to the rest of the world. In this case we are not different then Saddam or Chavez.

  4. Its already been revealed that the Bush administration has allowed torture. And it doesn't matter if it breaks any sort of international law such as the Geneva convention. Those aren't enforceable outside of trade embargos and war. I don't see a lot of countries signing up for that.

I think you could easily make a case that what is going on in Guantanamo along with a lot of the other policies supported by the bush administration, that they are actually themselves guilty of a form of terrorism. They are using torture and taking away what we consider to be basic rights- both with suspected enemies, and those who are innocent, and even in some cases US citizens- and the purpose of these things is to inflict terror. That is a form of terrorism. It could be worse of course.

And aahhchoo- this is not the most civilized nation in the world. For example of all the industrialized nations we are the only one not to have outlawed the death penalty as being barbaric.

  5. Guess what- The USA is the most civilized country on the planet so quit crying that these evil people are getting three square meals a day and probably eating better than you or I.  It is people like you that make the enemy happy.  You live in a very unsophisticated brain.

  6. It is appalling - not to mention in violation of the Geneva convention. Also don't forget Abu Gharib, where released documents prove that the orders came from the top, Not just Cheney or Rumsfeld but even Condoleezza Rice was in the meetings.

The fact most of the people in Gitmo are innocent is nothing new, something even administration accepts. Human rights violations are nothing new either.

Here's the biggest problem other than it has tarnished US reputation around the world. The same thing can happen to us as well, any rogue nation can do the same thing!

On what moral ground any condemnation will be sought, rather it will simply be thrown back citing Gitmo. The world taunts and laughs if Bush uses the words 'Human rights', it is an embarrassment to use human rights and US in the same sentence.

He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent which will reach to himself.

~ Thomas Paine, Dissertation on First Principles of Government, 1795

  7. Oh by the way that little S*** killed an American soldier..And blinded another.. He should have been shot were he stood and not been taken to Guantanamo And the enemy should not be taken to prison they should die ... They are enemy combatants and should not have Lawyers.... Did the soldier he killed have a lawyer ? No the soldier was sentence to death and his family has to live with that.... Did you think about that....No you are too busy giving comfort to the enemy..... And let me tell you this ... That kid would kill you if he had the chance.... And he knows how to play on the sympathy of dumb people so he can get loose and kill more people.... That kid as you call him is a killer and needs to be treated as such...
