  1. Unlucky not to get that tri just after half time. if they got that it would have been a h**l of a game.

  2. I think that they were beaten by the better team but the last time I answered a question like this I got abusive e-mails from someone from yahoo answers. So I stick with my point, I think SA were the better team. If I get offensive e-mails from it then that's just too bad. I am giving my honest opinion.

  3. England were good, but could not match SA at the breakdown or the lineout. Failure to secure good lineout ball cost us dear on a number of occassions, and frustration at the breakdown led to the ill-discipline which resulted in the penalties.

For the most part, SA managed to nullify the advantages England had (the scrum), and played a sensible game.

As many have said, England were beaten by the better team on the day. England fans can still be proud of their team, given where they were after the group games v SA.

The bitter Aussie fans who want to complain about Englands boring style of rugby might want to consider that the 15 players on the pitch play to win, and not to appeal to fans. Besides, a side winning ugly attracts more fans to the game than a side losing pretty.

  4. not much to say about it

  5. Who cares, it was a boring match.  Both teams played boring rugby, the playoff for 3rd and 4th was a much better game to watch.

  6. England surprised me. They were good, there pack played a big one. For a side that look not up to standard earlier in the competition, they shut me up. Good to see such a comeback. Sorry for them but I am South African and I believe the best team is now again world champs. Anyway well done England. The almost try could have changed things but the reply showed clearly his foot touched the line. No other side would have been able off beating England on Saturday. Go England, it was great to see. Cheers.

  7. They were fabulous. RSA didn't put even 1 try and their points were only on penalties. The way England played should made them the world champions.

  8. Although I was cheering on the Bokkes, England played a mighty game well above the one dimensional game we are all so used to.

Yes the (no) try was close and momentum would have swung - we will never know, In the end the result was justified SA play England at there own game and came out on top.

  9. I think they did well, a h**l of allot better then everyone thought after the first two matches. They had a chance to win it too. It's a shame that try wasn't awarded. I thought they had it. With that try, the game could have been won with a drop goal. It seems that ever since they allowed replays, the refs don't even have the nerve to call a try unless the player runs unmolested between the posts and touches down with no opponents within 5 feet of them.

  10. I, think as I have said before, they lost the match yes but gained stature in the eyes of thousands of Brits,to finalise the match  with a  final score line of points they did,  against a team that thrashed them previously, was in my view  a great effort, they must have been under tremendous pressure, Good Luck Lads Well Done For England

  11. Tinker - I couldn't have put it better myself.

They stopped the Boks from scoring a try and scored one themselves. That says it all really.

  12. WE WAS ROBBED!!!

  13. south africa played better than england

  14. The team did a great job and as long as they came in ahead of Scotland, thats all that matters. Mind you that was never in doubt....

  15. It seems that when England have a chance of being the top team be It Rugby/Football or Cricket seem to play like they have been told " it's better to take part that to win" .Let's face it any team using the England name never wins these day's as in the final all the team seem to play like c**p! And come away saying well there's always next time.

  16. they did OK but SA were the better team on the day and the whole competition.

  17. England are a disgrace to the game. They have turned so many people away with their boring style of play. I am glad they lost. Heavens forbid another four years of the most boring side in the world as the champion

  18. outplayed, outclassed and oot on their backsides.thank god

  19. what a boring game of rugby.both sides kicked the leather off the ball.nobody willing to take a chance and use the possesion they had.boring boring boring.

  20. SA was too big,too strong!.

  21. They played really well and I admire them for picking up their game.  The better team one though.

  22. Well they must have been good, they didn't lose 36-0 again.  Well done!

  23. They were no match for the boks. it would have been more of a beat down if habana saw the ball more

  24. Over the whole competition the Saffers were the best team. On Saturday England had the slight edge I thought. The decisions (and not just the try) went against England. On another day it would be otherwise. RSA were only superior to England in the line-out. Loose, scrum, back-play and overall fitness and commitment, I think was either equal or England had a slight edge. England lost 7 line-outs on their own ball. Unacceptable even in club rugby. Thought England deserved to win on Sat but RSA deserved to win the tournament.

  25. thought england stunk to high heaven. as usual.

  26. So proud of the players.  Their commitment to the cause and for each other was immense.  Their tactics were just right, as was shown by their refusal to allow Habana to play his game and the fact that SA were reduced to kicking.

Rugby is an impossible game to predict.  If Wilko had got the drop goal attempt, if the try had been given, if we hadn't been harshly penalised for crossing, if SA had been penalised when their players crossed later on, who knows what the score might have been.

We have few enough heroes in England at the moment, but every man who played a part is a hero in my mind.

  27. They did very well (this coming from a Irish man) but I think the matches against Australia and France just proved too much for them,  no Lewsey, and then having Vickery Robinson and Catt (probably englands strongest player) go off injured did not help, that and the fact johny never really got going with his injured right ankle (hence Toby Flood kicking from the right side). I cant tell for sure if that was a try or not, one angle says one way and another its out....but not getting it killed off the english spirits.....they defended fantastically and denied South africa a try in the first half....in all England will use this to build again, last time they didnt take full advantage of the win, they celebrated the victory (rightly too) but did not capitalise on the hype.
