You know how when a person first starts out in a company, they tend to be nicer, extremely optimistic, and just overly good and open to do whatever comes his/her way. As they get older within the company, this changes. What's the right word to describe this? Beginner's joy? I also wanted to know what you all thought of this behavior, is it typical, are you or others around you that way and just any thoughts you might have?

  1. That behavior seems a lot like infatuation. I was the same way every time I started a new job, and I've seen it in lots of new employees. After a while it wears off, the same way that infatuation wears off after a while in a new relationship. Those behaviors and feelings seem to last longer with people who are in a "good match" with their job - just like they do in a good relationship where both people are a "good match" for each other.

I think I heard a word or phrase that described that behavior at work, but I don't remember what it is.

  2. Common. It's not boredom that changes the mindset, but usually poor management that ticks people off after a few months.

  3. I think this is very common.  Beginner's joy maybe.  How about naivete?

  4. i think this is typical in any sistuation. Once you start something you'll love it. but after a while it will get boring and you won't enjoy it anymore.

  5. I am really not sure how to call the optimistic behavior of the beginners, but the feeling that follows is definitely DISAPPOINTMENT.

  6. it's just them making sure they can stay there. they know the longer they are there the harder it is to get rid of them. that or you could call it relaxing and the first while they are stressed or intimated ext.

  7. i think its very typical.

imagine getting a new shirt that you LOVE when you first buy it. you wear it a couple of times and then get sort of tired of it....sorta like that. i do the same thing

  8. I think you have to try your best at first. Personally, I'm a much harder worker than when I first started. I think I'm the only one who realises we're paid to WORK, not to talk and be lazy. I personally think that if someone stops working to have a natter or something they should have their wages docked. I hate idle people. They're there to work. If they don't work they deserve to be sacked. Some people seem to think they mean so much to the company when at the end of the day they're just a number, and can be replaced.

  9. As the Kodac commercials says, "I see your true colors shining throught!"  We as humans can only put up a front for so long, and once we get comfortable in a situation our personalities began to feel secure enough to come out...most people change themselves to get the job...once they got it and is their for a while, they feel confident that no one will alienate them because of who they really are....sad isn't it???? I guess it pays their bills'
