  3. 1) why created: for gladiatorial fights, and it shows that the Romans were entertained by blood and gore

    2) art elements:

    a. symmetry and order(repetition of arches)-->this was important to the Romans whose values included practicality, logic and simplicity. There is also heavy greek influence.

    b. vertical movement/lines from the columns- almost as if pointing toward the heavens/Gods
