  1. You should visit

    http://www.theknot.com

This should help in your planning

  2. Things I had to buy:

Table decorations, including: vases, platters, heart confetti, picture frames, candles, cake topper

Beverages: soda, water, red/white wine, champagne, beer, punch

    Attire: dress, shoes, accessories

Tableware: clear plastic plates, cutlery, cups, napkins

Program materials: black and white paper, ribbon

Of course, my wedding was set up in my in-laws backyard, so we rented chairs and tables, hired a restaurant to cater a buffet, and provided everything else.  I didn't list things we hired someone to do or make or bring for us.

  3. First question is "where are you getting married".  If it is in a church ask if the church has any supplies you can borrow.  For example tables, chairs, and table cloths for the reception.  They may also have candelabras, pillars, pew bows and a runner that you can use.  If you are getting married around a holiday, the church may already be decorated (like at Christmas when alot of churches decorate with pointsettias etc).  Where ever you are getting married, ask the venue what they have!  You will need flowers, clothes for you and the groom.  The bridal party and the groomsmen.  You will need centerpieces, a cake, cake plates, and cups.  If you are having it catered, the caterer will provide plates, cutlery, napkins etc.  If you are doing the food yourself, you will need to purchase all of that!  Or you can rent china from a party supply rental facility.

Where are you getting married?  I may be able to give you a little more detail with more info!  I have done weddings, bday parties, formal baby showers etc.

  4. If I understand you correctly, you mean "professionally done" such as the catering, DJ, photographer, and flowers.  Therefore, I would say besides the obvious answer of attire, you need many little extras such as: an aisle runner, card box (for monetary gifts), rose petals, candles, favors, favor boxes, favor tags, stamps (for invites, save the dates, thank you notes), invitations, save the dates, thank you notes (since these are not considered professionally done, I believe), jewelry, accessories, bridal party gifts, parents gifts, honeymoon....the list goes on.

    Good luck and congratulations!
