What do you call a suit in America?

In UK a business man wears a suit: jacket and trousers. Do you call it a suit in America? I know trousers is pants but what about jacket?

i sometimes refer  to my swimsuit as a "suit", though.

We call it a suit too. Separately we call the bottoms pants or trousers, but the jacket is always just called a jacket.

all together, we call it a suit too.. but sometimes a less formal suit jacket is called a 'blazer'...
