  1. Ophthalogist.

  2. opthamoligist

  3. An ophthalmologist.

An eyeglasses specialist is an optometrist.

  4. This is a common confusion of the three O's:

Optician: The person who supplies lenses based on an Rx from an optometrist or ophthalmologist (like a pharmacist does for drugs).

Optometrist (OD): An eye doctor trained in the health and function of the eyes.  An optometrist is licensed to diagnose and treat ocular disease (glaucoma, foreign bodies, red eyes, allergies, and so on), oculomotor problems, as well as provide refractive care (glasses/contacts).  The OD is a primary-care provider of eyecare.  Optometrists do not perform surgery (with a few exceptions), but often provide pre and post-operative care in practice with ophthalmologists.

Ophthalmologist: An eye surgeon.  These eye doctors are specialized to specific areas in the eye: retina, cornea, etc.  There are general ophthalmologists as well, who do much the same work as OD's, but with more disease focus and less refractive care.  The ophthalmologist is generally considered secondary or tertiary care, not a primary-care provider.

  5. An Optometrist

Optometry is a doctoral-degree health care profession concerned with eyes and related structures, as well as vision, visual systems, and vision information processing in humans.

  6. ophthalmologist?

  7. Optometrist is the one who puts the big machine in front of your eyes and says "better here, or here..?"  Things involving the SURFACE of the eye.

Ophthalmologist is the one who puts the drops in and looks in the microscope, does eye surgery, and anything that involve the INSIDE of the eye.

    Optician is the eyeglasses dudes.
