Bananas, pineapples, coconuts, etc. they naturally grow without seeds. You need to plant a part of this fruit to grow a tree or plant from them. I'm looking for the term that classifies this...

  1. Bananas, pineapples, coconuts all have seeds or are seeds naturally.  Very controlled selective breeding, crossbreeding, and/or grafting can create seedless specimens.

  2. seedless. oh and by the way bananas have seeds.

  3. Umm Coconuts are just huge seeds if you didn't know. Bananas have small black seeds. And there is no way a tree can not have a seed, they need seeds to have offspring trees. Pineapples have seeds too.

  4. they are called parthenocarpous seeds....

  5. Bananas have dozens of black seeds naturally, but the bananas you see for sale are seedless because they were bred to be that way and then reproduced vegetatively to keep them like that. The black specs you see in a banana when you slice it open are actually tiny sterile seeds. You will find this same thing in a lot of seedless fruits like the kiwi and seedless watermelons.

In pineapples if the flowers are pollinated, small, hard seeds may be present, but generally one finds only traces of undeveloped seeds. Since hummingbirds are the principal pollinators, these birds are prohibited in Hawaii to avoid the development of undesired seeds.

The coconut is not a nut or a fruit, it is the actual seed of the Coconut Palm.

  6. A seedless fruit i dont know good question. I dont  think there is a name.
