Glue is the name common to all adhesives but you need to add further description if you want to be clear what TYPE of glue you mean.

Glue sticks are a semi solid glue in a lipstick style dispenser. The brand leader is Pritt Stick (in four sizes) but there are many other brands some of which have special functions such as acid free glue sticks for photographs.

Other types of glue are PVA glues, Superglues, wood glues, mosaic glues, glue dots, silicone glues, bookbinding glues, and many, many other types.
