I just learned that if you live in Cairo, you are a Cairene. But what do you call someone who lives in Turks and Caicos?

  1. Turks and Caicos Islanders or Belongers

  2. .Citizens of the TCI, called "Belongers,"  I can't think of anything else they are called.

Other that that they are called the people of Turks and Caicos.

  3. You call them Turks and Caicos Islanders,  or the people from the Turks islands you call them Turks Islanders and the ones from the Caicos Islands you call them Caicos islanders.

  4. The people with TCI status are commonly referred to as "Turks Islanders" (even if they live in the Caicos Islands!) or "Belongers".  The word "natives" is acceptable too for people who were born there.

Your question is concerning people who live in the TCI.  This, of course, would include people with residence permits, people living there and working with work permits and illegal immigrants (usually from Haiti, but sometimes from the DR). The terms used for these people vary and tend to be less flattering than the terms mentioned above.

  5. A Local

    A T.I.

    A Turks Islander

    A Belonger

    I live there!
