What do you call that white pencil thing?

in this video he uses a like smudger sort of thing what do you call those? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJ6S5u52YLQ he uses it for the pupil and for the crease of the eye)

They have several names and there isn't really a standard one. Most professional artists (at least here in Europe) call them tortillons. They are also called blending pencils, blending sticks, blending stumps, etc.

You don't need to buy them, though - they are just sticks of paper and so it's easy to make them yourself: http://monologues.co.uk/Portraits/Tortil...

Or you can just use something like Q-tips - they are very cheap and work just as well.
